Sustainable trade
The Market Development Services (MDS) of the International Trace Centre (ITC) in Geneva assists enterprises in developing countries to increase their international competitiveness. Increasingly the ITC has been focusing on the sustainability aspects of their technical assistance.In this respect, Francis Vorhies has been advising the MDS on biodiversity and carbon related trade. Regarding biodiversity, the ITC is developing a new programme with linkages to UNCTAD's BioTrade Initiative. Regarding carbon, the ITC is exploring options for supporting carbon offset exporters from developing countries. Also, the ITC is developing new approaches to engaging the private sector in its work.
